I have decided that I am going to get an aero helmet and I have pretty much narrowed it down to either the Louis Garneau Rocket or the Giro Advantage 2. I am leaning toward the Rocket but wanted to get some reviews from people who have either one of these. Thanks in advance.

Go to a wind tunnel and see which has a lower drag coefficient for your head. Isn't that what everyone does?

Man, I'm giving you a hard time today, Dan!

I think the Giro looks a tad better but that of course is not your main consideration. :p

I have a rocket and really like it -- I found that for how I hold my head and my body, I barely have to change the regular position where I hold my head as I ride to get the helmet aligned right. Perhaps see if you can try them both on?

I have an older version of the LG. But I think that Giro is more comfy and would be my choice if buying again today.

I have the Giro. It is comfortable and my head stayed cool. My avg. speed went up over 3 MPH. Well, not really, but I felt kind of fast with it on. The kids in my neighborhood also thought it looked cool.

I think that your aero helmet picture needs to make a comeback for this thread... :D

Has anyone had a problem with overheating in hot conditions with either one? That's been my main reluctance to buy an aero helmet. Well, that, and the dork factor....

I didn't have any heat issues with mine in IM Louisville this year, and didn't even feel a difference. The same with the test ride I did when it was somewhere in the 90s out.

What dork factor? (happy now shiba? :p)

I know a lot of people are looking got ways to get faster downloads, but that maybe the most dedicated effort I've seen yet.:D

Not to add the the confusion, but I have to put in the plug for my sponsor's helmet.

Very comfortable, even with those ear flaps hanging there.

Great pic!

I was just telling myself if Chrissie Wellington could win Kona without an aero helmet, I sure didn't need to spend the money on one.

But then again, I need LOTS more help than she does!!

Actually I am glad the the heat issue got brought up. I forgot to mention that in my post but that was one of my main area's of concern. I think I am going to go with the Rocket. I found it for cheaper, it seems to feel about the same to me as the Advantage when I have them on and I like the look of it because it matches. I figure if I have to look like a dork, I might as well match.

I just got my LG Prologue helmet in the mail which I won on ebay. In my excitement, I had to bump this thread, but in even dorkier fashion...

You look like you're in deep thought. Does that helmet make your brain work better in addition to the aero advantages?

I think that's some sort of fire-retardant hood. Did you steal that from a Nascar driver?
