I'm going on a trip to Port Elizabeth, SA in December - I"M SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!! I've read that biking is pretty big there and was looking into some bike tours. Have any of you out there in Trifuel-land ever been? If so, any advice/suggestions.......

You should get ahold of SAChris, he is from South Africa and I am sure he could give you some good trip advice.

Hey there, funny this came up. I am moving to cape town SA for the year on tuesday. I am bringing my bike but I am not sure about where to ride, if its safe etc. My girlfriend is coming with me and she is a marathoner and is worried about being able to run on her own.

I plan on hooking up with the tri club in cape town when I get there but if there are any cape triathletes on here, it would be cool to get a heads up.

I've traveled to Cape Town 2 years ago and it is very beautiful. My only caution for travelers is that violent crime in many areas is very bad and travelers should exercise extreme caution. I would definitely link up with established clubs and bike/run in groups.

Review the State Department's Consular information sheet for specific details regarding travel to South Africa:

Hey Mike thanks for the link - I will definitely read it. I'm only looking to go on guided tours and stay with the group I'm going with, but safety is certainly on issue.

I have been in SA for a couple of years now and its great. If you are going to do some riding, just get good information from locals to make sure you stick to safer areas. I have never been down to PE, I live in Pretoria, but love the coast from Richards Bay down and around to Cape Town is beautiful. Enjoy the trip.
