trainers - rim drive vs. tire drive
Triguy98 posted 34 weeks ago.
Stick with the tire drive. Pick up a trainer tire for $30. Its pretty much just solid rubber. Wont break down on you. And yes, the rim drives are not great for your rims. Like riding with the brakes on the entire time.
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Roger that on the extra tire. Right now we have an entire cheap-o wheel set aside for the trainer. Very quick to change out.

Anybody have thoughts or experiences with a rim drive trainer?
We are buying a second trainer so that my wife and I can have family night getting sweaty together in the basement :) . We have a tire drive model, but we're considering a rim drive to avoid tire damage. Will a rim drive trainer abuse the rim the way a tire drive abuses your tires?
Thanks for the help!
