Hey all-
Has anyone done any good Half-Iron races in the midwest? I am looking for one next summer. I to school in St. Louis now, but am from Iowa originally, know a bunch of people in Chicago, and have family in Madison, so anywhere in that area would be great. Has anyone done the Pigman? Any thoughts on that race?
Thanks

Its a new race - last year was the first year. I suppose I am a bit biased since its my hometown, but I heard really great things about it.

It's probably a bit further east for you, but we're looking at the Great Buckeye Challenge in Ohio next year.

I did Pigman in '06 and thought it was a good race. Overall it was a well run race. The bike actually has a few good hills, which I wasn't excepting in Iowa. :) The only thing I didn't like was the run was an out and back on a state highway. There is no shade or cover on the run. Other then that I thought it was a good HIM.

If you think Iowa lacks hills, bring your bike to Dubuque sometime :)

The only two I know of are Steelhead HIM in St.Joe/Benton Harbor MI and Muncie. I did Steelhead and liked it and have heard good things about Muncie. Plan on doing that in the summer. Hope this helps.
