Hi All. My name is Eric, dubbed LongHair by most of my cycling and triathlete friends. The long flowing mane of hair that I donated to Locks of Love is the source of my nickname, and I still carry the monicker despite the current short hair. Another year or so, and the name will be more appropriate.

I just completed my sophomore season, doing three sprints and 2 olympic distance events, capped by a half marathon at the end of September. All events were in Connecticut. It has been a long time since I have been this excited about a sport. My wife has joined in the fun, although we don't really train together because we take turns watching our daughter.

Looking forward to checking out what all of you know, and what I can learn. Hopefully, I can add something constructive in return.:)

Awesome. Welcome to the boards. I joined not too long ago and have learned a lot in a short time.

So was the long hair more like Cher or Cousin It from the Addams family?

Hope you enjoy the site.

To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!

Like the name and I think donating your hair to locks for love is awesome.
My daughter did the same thing a few years back.
Welcome to trifuel.:D

Nothing to it, but to do it

"So was the long hair more like Cher or Cousin It from the Addams family?"

First of all...great response...my wife and I had a good laugh.

My long hair resembled neither. More like Lorenzo Lamas in Rengade. Anyone remember that show?

Here is my first piece of info to share. I recently bought my first tri specific bike. Xlab Avenger TT. I would highly recommend it. I did a lot of research and I felt it gave you a lot for the money. I am a mechanical engineer, and they did a few things with the frame design that I thought was clever, namely a replaceable derailleur hanger (instead of forming it as part of the carbon fiber layup) and the routing of the rear derailleur cable through the top tube (internal) and down the seat stay. The claim for that arrangement is that the radius of cable as it exits the frame and goes into the derailleur is larger, implying less cable friction and easier shifting. By a odd coincidence, I have an old Mongoose mountain bike that does the same thing, and its grip shifts seem to shift easier that those with the cable along the down tube and seat stay.

Anyway, for those in the market, I give it a thumbs up.
