I had similar 'problem' last April. Should I do the half or what they called a mini (basically OLY with long bike). I did the half and do not regret it - scored 2nd in my AG and it was my second triathlon ever. It was hard to train for it and do it - don't get me wrong, but it was very good 13 weeks of training.

So yeah you should do it if you can afford to train for it. Don't do it if you can not train for it.

Kind of a vague question...
What are your issues with doing it or not

Yeah..real vague. What doubts/limitations do have about it?

Unless there's a major reason you shouldn't, go for it.

The question is a bit like asking a fortune teller what you should do, or where you should go. Need some context.

Based on your profile endurance values I would guess a half would be easy for you. So, I am guessing that you are asking about the race's quality - is it worth doing? Should I pay the entry fee? A lot of people seem to really enjoy that race, so based on popular opinion, I'd say yes.

Cheers!

At Oceanside the water is usually really cold -- people do wear neoprene caps under their race ones. And the bike when wet can be cold to get going on. The rest of the weather is a big unknown -- at that time of year you can have rain or a great warm day.
