Hi from Miami!
welcome! Glad the knee is healing well... since it sounds like you are taking care of it and doing it right, you'll be back in no time :)
Glad to have you on board. I hope the knee continues to rehab well.
Welcome and good luck with rehab, sounds like you have it under control.
Look forward to your first race report.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
Welcome!
Sounds like you were smart about your rehab and will come back strong!

Welcome indeed.
Always good to have a Gator around... Oh sorry, I mean a Seminole... Oh no, that's not right... Well, I hope you run like a Hurricane!
Sounds like you've made a great recovery - welcome back.

To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!
Glad you are back on the road to recovery.
I'll be at a wedding this weekend in Miami and I am going to be sneaking out for a few runs. What has the weather been like down there? :D
Nothing to it, but to do it
Thanks Everyone!

We’ve had pretty nasty weather these last couple of days because of Tropical Storm Noel, as it passed pretty close to our shore lines today was the last day we felt any affects from the storm (rain and clouds), but Friday and this weekend are suppose to really beautiful. It’ll still be a little windy, but no rain, so you’re getting some awesome weather.
If you’re staying near Key Biscayne I recommend you run there, with the wind and the temps in the mid 80s, the sail boats will be out, which you’ll get to see when running over the bridge. A definite Kodak moment! :)

I will be staying in Miami Springs. How far is Key Biscayne from there?

It's about a 30-35 min drive, definitely within running distance.

Depends on the time of the day, traffic around there is pretty hardcore.
Peace
I had to stay close to Miami Springs since I didn't have a car to use so I ran around the area of the Miami Spring Country club and the Curtiss mansion. The weather was much warmer and more humid but I enjoyed running several times. :D

That's a nice place to run, I've been there a couple of times. It's really funny you thought it was hot and humid, becuase compared to ealier months (April- early October) this weekend was dry and cool! :)
I definitely lucked out. I heard tropical storm Noel had visited a day before. :D

Hi!
I’ve posted in some of the threads, but hadn’t gotten around to properly introducing myself. My name is Joyce and I live in Miami, and I’m a University of Miami graduate (I bleed orange and green!)
I’ve actually been doing tris for a couple of years now, but had to sit this last season out after tearing my meniscus and MCL snowboarding. I was really crushed as I hoped to do my first IM this year, and reading everyone’s posting on their races and training really made me wish I could grab my stuff and go for a 13 mile run or 2 hour bike ride. Going through tri withdrawal has definitely been hard, I even considered joining some of the Hollywood stars at rehab!:) J/K
So far recovery from surgery has gone better and quicker than expected, two months ago my doctor and physical therapist even gave me the ok to a 13k in Orlando this last weekend. Which I was really excited to do as it was the first timed race I have done all year. I think I smiled the entire race I was so excited to have my running shoes on and actually participating in race. I ran 9 min miles without having my knee bother me the entire race, although I know if I had been 100% I could have done better, I was really happy and excited about my timing.
One of the positive things about my recovery period is discovering this website which I find to be really helpful and reading everyone’s race reports has really helped me stay motivated and eager to get back out there.
I’m really looking forward to getting back into rhythm and up to speed with my training, especially doing my first tri since surgery. Hopefully if everything keeps going well, I’ll be able to start posting some of my own race reports next season!
J.
