New Ironman 70.3 Race in Rhode Island
They are adding these things pretty quickly. Thanks for letting us know.
Nice....great timing for an IMKY tune up. Think I may have to try this one out.
woo-hoo, relatives live there-- a free place to stay.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
I was looking for an early season qualifier half - had I known, I probably would have registered for it, but I've already signed on the dotted line for the previously announced new race in Boise, June 1. My wife and I vacationed in Sun Valley last winter and we loved it, so we're making a vacation out of it - more vacation for her than for me. I'll definitely be stressed/nervous until after the race, since it will be my first.

This will be a great race!!! Providence is a great little city. The traffic is not bad and the food is great! I live 20 minutes away. If anyone has any questions about the city with lodging and places to see feel free to E-mail me. Hope to see you all in July

Mangorunner ~ I've never been to RI, and we're now thinking about this since it fits neatly into a hole in our 2008 race schedule. Tell me about terrain -- flat, hilly? I didn't get much of a sense of the course and its environs from the press release. thanks!

Too bad, I signed up two weeks ago for the Timberman 70.3 in New Hampshire, this will be my first HIM. I grew up in ct, my buddy had a house in narragansett, spent alot of summers up there, RI shore is a great place. But after I looked at the site, I realized that the logistics of running this race seem pretty tough. The bike to run transition is in providence, and the swim is in narragansett, that's a 40 minute drive? The bike course should be a nice ride, and the water temps will be reasonable at that time of the year. Oh well, maybe in 2009, good luck to anyone that signs up.
Rhode Island is not as flat as florida but still pretty flat. there might be a couple of "hills" but nothing that will last the whole race. It sounds like to swim is at a beach south of the city and then we will bike into the city. then run around the city. The great thing about providence is that it is small. you can be in city and then you will be on rollinf lanscapes by the ocean. Hope to see you there.
