Hi,

Off-season is here and my main goals are 1.- Loose more weight, 2.- Improve my swimming.

But, lately I've run across different posts and websites regarding different running techniques and I'm really intrigued, Are all of those just some gimmicks to sell videos or do they actually improve your running? What is the difference between Pose, Chi and Evolution running techniques, which one do you recommend? Maybe I can add improve my running technique as a 3rd goal for the off-season.

Thanks
Maui

I've been trying to learn the Evolution Running technique for the last month or so. Check out my posts that say EomR or my ER with the "Entry" numbers. I've been logging results of my initial attempts to learn how to run that way.

Irrespective of whether its the "best" technique of the several that are out there, this I can confirm: It has helped make running much less stressful on me and I believe will ultimately make me a faster runner.

I've logged 5 entries so far.

Well keep your head up ( do not look at the ground). Focus on a good stride . Try to maintain a good posture by not slouching or anything. And thats about it =D The more you run the better your running economy will be. Also try to keep your arms relaxed and bent and not moving them around crazily or anything so ur not expending extra energy.

Good advice from sbg1. Keep everything going forward. Sounds easy but isn't always what is happening. Be conscious of where your arms and legs are moving as you run (make sure they are not going out or across your body) and relax your face and shoulders. Try to keep your upper body somewhat centered over your hips and you are good to go.

I haven't read Evo or Pose so I can't comment on those techniques. I would rather keep it simple because it works for me.

I was a heel striker and switched to being a forefoot runner using Evolution. It made a huge difference for me. Eliminated the persistent nagging pains and injuries that I had with running.
Much more efficient - better turn-over.
Ken Mierke - of Evolution Running checks in here on occasion and he was real helpful to me with answering my questions.
