Nice work!
Did you really mean a 2k lake swim though? That is much longer comparatively then 8k bike and 2k run. And it doesn't seem like the times line up for that long of a swim

sorry, typo, 200m.
Congratulations!!!! And that thing is soo true...
I almost always think during a race "I'm so stupid, nobody is forcing me to race, I signed up to this thing by myself, I'm crazy" and then you cross the finish line and you are thinking about your next race.
Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
Tikal is right, during the race you say to your self, "I must be nuts" and then at the finish you ask, where is the sign up table?

And what is worse is that you actually paid to put yourself through this.

Second effort. This was quite different to the first - 200m lake swim, 8k road ride and 2k run about 80% grass/trail. Felt a bit ordinary the night before and in the morning - tummy was a little upset.
Swim was fine, water about 19C, didn't bother with wetsuit. Made a conscious effort to take it easy from the start after kinda blowing up on the swim in tri 1. At the start stood right behind 2 guys who looked pretty serious, thought I might draft them. Yeah right, lasted about 15 seconds before commonsense took over and settled back to do my own thing.
Took a much more measured approach to navigation - started on an inside line to the buoy and checked my position often. 3rd out of the water and was amazed that people actually clapped as we got out - how cool. Even better was my 3yo son yelling out 'Go Daddy!!' at the top of his voice as we headed to T1 - everyone laughed. I made sure I waved, he loves that sort of stuff.
Onto the bike and off. A bit windy and a bit hilly. Nothing bad - if it was a normal ride I'd laugh at this sort of hill - but after the swim my legs felt a bit dead. Struggled to stay in the drops as well - a bit hard to breathe. Passed quite a few from previous waves and battled through as best I could. Not a terribly solid ride but OK.
T2 seemed slow - I think psychologically I dread the run so much I want to delay it as much as possible. Struggled big time - the grass/trails don't suit my wonky knee or back. Had to stop and walk a couple of times and got passed by one of the under 13 girls. Got to within about 500 metres of the finish and she was walking - I really felt for her - patted her on the back and said 'c'mon sweetie, you can do it' and plodded past She reminded me of my daughter. Just after this I saw my kids lined up along the ropes cheering. I hi-fived them and finally managed a smile while running.
Approached the finish shute and looked at my watch - 29:45. Managed enough of a 'sprint' to make 29:58. Seemed like some sort of minor achievement to break 30 minutes.
The run took over 11 minutes and the entire time I was thinking about a comment from Trifuel - "Every time you do a tri you think 'why am I doing this?' and when it's over you can't wait till the next one".
And so it goes, I'll be back...
