2nd tri complete and I was pretty disappointed with the results. 3rd out of the water, only passed by one on the bike and a couple on the run. I figured I'd be about 6th. Category result was 12/18. Instant depression and lots of wondering how that happened.

OK, so I figure all the extra people passed me during transition. Cearly too slow into my shoes. My run split (2k) was over 11:30 (please don't laugh). If I could knock @ 1:30 off that I'd be around 5th or 6th. The category I raced was open 17-50 yrs (I'm 49). When I checked the 50+ times, I would have won by 4 minutes. When I checked overall, I think I ended up 24/67.

Sorry if this is all very self indulgent, I'm just trying to convince myself there's a lot more to look forward to if I can stick to it and work a bit harder.

Did I mention I had fun? It hurt like buggery but was a hoot. Booked in for another in 3 weeks.

This is not a common saying here in the USA, so it made me laugh quite a lot! Ha!

Don't fret! And if you are 3rd out of the water then you have the hard part licked. Gradually add some speed work on the run and you'll be flying.

hmmm, now that you mention it...

What can I say, it's an adjective for pretty much everything down here...

Hot as ...
Cold as ...
Sick as ...

and then there's

I'm ......ed! (meaning exhausted)
It's ......ed!
He's ......ed!
The economies ......ed!
The company's ......ed!

Feel free to spread it around the US.:)

Heh....we already say that stuff. We just substitute f*ck for bugger. I use them both interchangeably. But don't expect me to try vegemite again. :p

On a more serious note, practice those transitions! It's an easy way to gain or lose a few places in a race. Better to gain, right? Your running will improve if you train, but you have to train the transitions too.

You could also practice putting on/taking off your bike shoes while they're still attached to the bike, if you have cleats that is.. Easier to run without the shoes on, and saves some time in transition!
