I'm back!!!
Does this mean you're in shape enough to train in Clermont with some Gators now?!

Not fast enough.
Welcome back! I'm waiting for the pics too. I haven't been to Utah in about 4 years. I miss it and will probably relive my trip through your pictures. :(

By not- so- popular demand: my trip report!
My and my girlfriend flew into Vegas on Wed, spent the night, blew a few dollars in slots to "do the Vegas thing," and picked up our friends on Thursday. After a quick trip to REI, we headed across the state to the coolest little town in Utah (and one of the top 5 cool towns anywhere) Moab.
Friday morning was a long MTB ride around Porcupine Rim. It was supposed to be a moderate length ride, but one of the girls in the group kinda slowed us down. But it was all good- I was renting and riding THIS!!!

Amazing scenery abound!

The first 3/4 of the ride isnt technical, just some nice little elevation changes. Then you drop and follow the canyon rim around and it gets narrow, with many sections of ledge walking and climbing over rocks. Fun stuff. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The girl might have to stay behind so we guys could just FLY down that trail!
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.

Day two was visits to Arches and Canyonlands. Unfortunately, my camera decided to not cooperate during this leg of the trip, and was mainly stuck with pics taken by the GF with the digi backup. I got some, though.

Gorgeous.....next time you go, you totally need to do some freestyle riding. :D

Not fast enough.

And here's some of Canyonlands:

We next drove over to Captial Reef NP- but the more scenic drive was closed due to flood damage. Got some cool Petroglyph pics.

Kodachrome State Park was a neat little place, not too far from Bryce Canyon National Park, but we saw more wildlife there than we had the whole trip- jackrabbits, mule deer, and golden eagles. The park is known for its..interesting... formations. Mindy explores:

Bryce Canyon NP was next we camped in a not so remote section of the back country. A roll got left behind from processing that has all the REAL cool pics from the Navajo loop hike. So settle for this:

After a chilly night in Bryce (it got down to 34) we headed over to Zion. First up in Zion- Angel's Landing. Duuuuude, that was a trip! Just the approach to AL is tough- tons of switch backs and lots and lots of vertical gain. Google "Walter's Wiggles" and theres some good shots of the whole shebang. After your quads are burning, its time to head up the rock's spine. Some excellent exposure and narrow routes. It was actually harder heading down than up. Good times.

The Narrows was a nice overnight hike down through the slots canyons of the park. 16 miles through cold water. Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

We dropped went into Vegas and split with our friends. They were heading back and Mindy and I headed up to Great Basin National Park. Ever seen 3,000 year old trees? I have. VERY cool.

The stars were incredible. The area is considered the darkest in the continental US. Unfortunately my attempts at star trails and pics were thwarted by camera malfunctions. I will be saving for a nice digi SLR for the next trip.
Great times all around. I would do it again in a heartbeat, but I would take my bike with me so I could get in more riding. The time of year wasnt conductive to many rental options in every town except Moab.
Now its time to buckle down, Base 1 starts in two weeks.

Beautiful! I love slot canyons. And that Titus!
The rental place started listing the bikes they had in my size, asking me what I wanted to ride. The Titus was last on the list they read off. I dont know why they bothered with reading the rest of the list. XTR, 140mm Fox Talas fork. Candy Apple Green Anodized finish. I was drooling. I actually got compliments on it on the trail. I wish it was mine.

Wow what amazing photos-I love Utah-glad you had a great trip!
Does this mean you're in shape enough to train in Clermont with some Gators now?!
Not quite. Give me a couple weeks. I didnt actually run any at all, unless you count my fast downhill strides.

Very fun pics... but I must say they'd be even nicer at a size where I could really see 'em ;)

The trip was amazing! Tiring as well. I'm totally wiped out, so I will post a trip report and pics later. I did come up with a challenge for in the future- 50 mile trail run northwest to southwest corner of Zion National Park. With all the vertical- I would likely do it as a two day thing- ultralight overnight. It's been done in one day before- but thats a LOT of vertical for a flatlander. I havent sat down with a topo map to figure it all out, but it would be an amazing challenge. If youve never been to Zion- you MUST go. Amazing place.
