Does this seem right to you?
Easy. USAT is retarded. It is honestly probably the worst governing body of any sport in any country in the world. Even worse than Jamaican bobsledding (which I think is actually pretty good).

Not fast enough.
That is funny because in Canada they look at the Swim and Run times and not the bike.
They state in that paragraph that 'an athlete may be selected....if an athlete can help the team by enhancing the overall finish....of other athletes'.
So, they're pretty much saying if you don't automatically qualify through one of the mentioned methods, they might select you if they think you'll work your ass off to help your team mates.
If I am not mistaken, aren't the ITU draft legal races. That is probably why. If you don't qualify by the other means, they figure you can help the 'elite' athletes who did qualify by being someone they can draft off for the bike. Once the more 'elite' athletes hit the run, they don't need you anymore and they don't care what you run you miles in. Just an idea, but I could be wrong.
That's exactly it. I take that paragraph to mean that they are using those nominations for....domestiques, for lack of a better term. People who will swim well enough to come out of the water with the overall contenders, and bike well enough to shelter the overalls and set them up for a good run.

I see the logic behind that, still defiantly not a fan. Triathlon shouldn't be a team sport

Yeah, but people like Sara McLarty probably aren't complaining.

Are you sure? Triathlon Australia are sure to be right up there in incompetence.
Craig Walton - Arguably one of the best swimmers and cyclist (he drops the pack every race) in the sport won't even get a look in. Bennett will also struggle to get a look in.
Chris McCormack won't get a look in cause he has not done the rounds for a while.
Crowie- Not sure he is interested.
The head coach (Bill Daveron) for TA has Brad Kahlefeldt in his stable and is only looking for guys to set him up for the win in China.

Ok while I don't come from a running background this kinda of irks me. Triathlon was arguably founded to determine who was the better athlete overall, the fastest swimmer, cyclist, or runner right? To me that means all legs of the triathlon race are in technical equal importance overall, if you drown on the swim it doesn't matter if you can run 3min/mi for a marathon, likewise if you can only walk/lowcrawl at a 60min/mi you won't be winning any medals right regardless of your swim splits?
So why is it that for the U23 World Championship they are only looking almost only at your swimming/cycling times?

It just seems bias to me that in a sport of 3 main aspects they are only really looking at 2 of those.
I apologize in advance for the rant:rolleyes:
