Wetsuit in Transition
With the sprint and olympic races I do, there is typically enough room in the transition area that I can just leave mine in a wad on my towel. I don't want to have to take the time to fold it up and put it in a bag. However, I make sure that I put it out of the way of other people and most importantly bikes. If someone steps on my suit it is no big deal. I just don't want it to get tangled in someone’s chainring.
I think it is more of a situational and personal preference. If there is no room to leave it in transition or if you worry about it getting damaged, I would take the extra few seconds to package it up nicely.
I take my gear is a plastic bucket (5 gallon heavy plastic type) that I use to sit on when putting my shoes on in transition. I lay my other equipment out next to my bike with my bucket sitting next to the bike empty with the open end up. Once I shed my wetsuit I stuffed it in the bucket and flipped it over to become my stool. Cool thing is its out of the way and out of site.

I hang mine on the bike rack next to my bike. Just make sure there is nothing under it.

Usually just a quick fold and onto my towel that I have laid out in my spot.
I have placed it on the rack but it can get moved around or potentially be in the way where someone else needs to rack their bike. And once it did drain right on top of my running shoes when it was on the rack, so since then it is just on my towel on the ground under where the bike racks.

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I do like the bucket idea, although I am not sure that I want ONE MORE thing to have to carry into transition. I like the idea of having one bag, and riding-in from my car in the morning.
I think I will just set-up my area to be able to put it neatly on my towel.
Oh! News Break.... I just had this thought something like THIS (not buying it online... I'll get a slightly smaller one) would be great. I fold it and keep it in my bag, then I can pop it out, and it can hold misc. items and keep my wetsuit from getting kicked or run-over.

I think the idea is that the bucket replaces the bag. So you just pack everything in the bucket and head out from there. But I suppose it would be more difficult to ride from your car with a bucket than a bag.
Then again, I'm not a fan of the bucket method. Sure its better than sitting on the ground to put on shoes, but why sit at all? Get some Lock Laces or Yankz, throw the shoes on in 2 seconds and be on your way! (sprints and olys at least)

Yeah, the bucket replaces my bag. I basically put all my gear that I need for the race in the bucket and head to the tranistion area.
I use the bucket for one reason - to prevent me from hitting the ground! I'm afraid that if I try to put my shoes on standing I will lose my balance on my shakey legs and hit the ground and not get up or if I sit on the ground to put on my shoes I won't get up - LOL - just kidding :D

I take each of the arms/legs and tie it to four seperate bikes. Sure, it costs me 60-70 seconds in T1, but the ROI is sooo much higher. ;)
Nah, I just toss it on top of my towel/place.

hahahaha!! I like that idea best...
I too just drop it on my towel, only other thing on my towel are my runners and cap, so it goes up the back..
i like to rack the suit if I can, that way it's somewhat dry to pack for the way home
Just don't set your wetsuit down on top of your running shoes like I did in my first race this year. Not much fun returning from the bike leg to soaking wet shoes.
Bike rack beside my bike. Suit does not touch the rack. Half of a towel is scrunched up, other half stretched out. Suit goes on top of the stretched out portion. Scrunched up portion gets pulled over the suit. Takes just a few seconds and my suit doesn't bake in the sun while I'm out on course.
I take all my gear to the transition area in a big backpack and then empty what I am going to use onto a towel. When I am done with the wetsuit, I am usually sitting so i just shove into the bag, have a bottle to rinse off my feet-another towel to dry and then into my cycling shoes. At the end of the race, you usually want to rinse it off so it's ready for the next race. Hope this helps.

So here's a simple question.... What do I do with my wetsuit in T1? Do I just fold it on my towel? Shove it in a bag? I'm talking sprint/OLY here, not IM...
Thanks!
