i going to buy a powertap wireless soon. I am just deciding on a wheel to put it into. since i don't like to train on my race wheels, i want to put it into a solid training wheel. I need some suggestions on a fairly light training wheel that would also be used to put a wheel cover on aswell to race if i wanted to. I was thinking something from MAVIC or possibly BONTRAGER'S Race X-Lite Aero. Any other suggestions?

It's pretty standard to lace a powertap to an Open Pro. If you want to race on it, too, it needs to be stiff, so I'd suggest using some pretty hefty spokes with maybe 3x lacing. Aerodynamics matter less if you put an aero cover on it, so I'd try to build it as solid as possible.

Wait...stop...turn back...it is not too late! Do not buy the power tap!!! Instead by an Ergomo, yes I know it costs more but it is slightly more accurate, much more durable, and you don't have to deal with only being able to use it with one set of wheels!

Best of luck!

I'd talk to Rich over at Wheelbuilder. He does many of the disc covers, works with powertaps, and really knows his stuff.

If it were my money, I'd be getting an SRM. Ergomo second. (PT still last, though).

In case any of you are wondering what an Ergomo is, their website was very helpful. :D (Yes, it's in English too)

Quote:

i did some research on ergomo. It seems to get a mixed bag of reviews, espically on slowtwitch.com forums. I guess the important part is just getting a constant reading of power so i know what i am working with. How easy is ergomo to calibrate? Thank you for your replies.

For ergomo info, check out the power training forum Rich Strauss has: http://www.endurancenation.us/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=12
