Henderson, Nevada, USA (5 November 2011) - The USA's Jordan Rapp and Great Britain's Rachel Joyce are the newest ITU World Champions, after the 2011 Long Distance Triathlon World titles were run in the Nevada desert today.

The race was modified early on Saturday morning due to cold air and water temperatures, forcing the swim leg to be cancelled for athlete safety. Instead athletes started the bike in staggered five-second interval starts. Therefore, the overall time split determined each winner.

2012 Ironman Lottery Registration Opening and Enhancements

Changes include introduction of Ironman Legacy Program and increased chance for lottery selection

World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) announced the upcoming launch of the 2012 Ironman Lottery. Opening Nov. 1, the Lottery will feature two enhancements, including the new Ironman Legacy Program. One hundred general age group athletes, 100 Legacy athletes and five physically challenged athletes will be selected to compete in the 2012 Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawai'i.
