Triathlon One O One Announces Series Sponsors

The organizers of the Triathlon One O One series have signed several multi-year sponsorship deals for its upcoming series, which includes qualifying events in Bradenton, Fla., Clear Lake, CA, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, as well as the Triathlon One O One championship in The Woodlands, TX.

Athletes Receive Incentive for Registering Early

In keeping with their “Athlete’s First” pledge, the organizers of the Triathlon One O One series announced today a new entry fee schedule for all of its events. This new schedule would eliminate single entry fee pricing in favor of a more gradual increase over time, giving athletes more time to register at lower prices.

Akerson Wins American Dual in Panama

American Rom Akerson, used a solid bike and run combo to surprise the field with his victory at the 2007 Agua Brisa Portobelo International Triathlon.

Akerson, last year’s XTERRA Amateur World Champion, was a last-minute entry, making the trip from his home in neighboring Costa Rica. He surprised a field which included the 2004 XTERRA Amateur World Champion and 3rd place overall finisher at the 2006 Ironman Florida, Jim Vance, as well as XTERRA veterans Ben Travis of the US, and Ronan Pavoni of Argentina.

Triathlon Coaches Across Asia Receive Boost From International Coaching Programme

VANCOUVER - Ten coaches across Asia have received a boost from the International Triathlon Union having successfully completed the ITU Competitive Triathlon Coaching Course held last September in Beijing, China. The coaches from Philippines, China, Macau, Korea and Singapore are the first to gain accreditation as part of the ITU Coach Education Programme and will use this knowledge to aid the development of athletes in their countries.

The race – appropriately dubbed the Crown Jewel of the XTERRA Global Tour – pits man vs. Mother Nature in a voyage through the Islands pristine tropical jungle.

Following the success of Ironcamp: Tour of California, IronCamp.com coaches Rich Strauss and Patrick McCrann have decided to add a series of Race-Specific camps to their 2007 schedule. Crucible Fitness head coach Rich Strauss will host race-specifics camps on the Ironman Louisville and Wisconsin courses. These camps will be “learn how to train and race YOUR race better” camps, not high volume training camps.

Athletes Registering by March 15 Will Receive 50 Percent Off Entry Fee

Athletes wishing to participate in the May 6 Triathlon One O One Bradenton being held in Bradenton, FL, have just a few days left to take advantage of the 50 percent registration discount offer which expires on March 15.

The newly announced Triathlon One O One series extended the discount on the $300 registration fee as part of the series kick-off and its “Athletes First” mission.

Ford Ironman Champion Michellie Jones rides SRAM

2006 Ford Ironman World Triathlon Champion Michellie Jones will Make the Leap to SRAM Force drivetrain componentry for 2007-2008. Jones is originally from Sydney, Australia, but now lives and trains in Carlsbad, CA. Her full SRAM Force equipped Felt includes SRAM’s newly introduced full carbon TT bar end shifters and brake levers. She recently was on-hand at the Amgen Tour of California (US) when the new componentry was unveiled to North American media.
