SkirtSports Inc., the powerfully pink fitness skirt-specialty company founded and inspired by Ironman champion Nicole DeBoom, will unveil its Spring 2007 line of TRIKS apparel at the Aug. 10-13 Outdoor Retailer show in Salt Lake City.
Look for: a triathlon ensemble, a sassed up running dress, skirts for golf, tennis and lacrosse, more girls skirts, a maternity skirt, and sport underwear in panty and shortie (light mesh compression short) styles. The TRIKS cycling skirt, launched in spring 2006, will join the company's running skirts as a core product, meaning, it's been consumer tested and is now ready to become the newest star of the TRIKS line-up.
What makes SkirtSports different from the growing pack of corporate branded fitness skirts? The company is run by female athletes, pros and weekend warriors, and since its start in 2005 has quickly attracted a cult following of like-minded women -- females who appreciate a top-of-the-line fitness piece that also makes them look sassy-cute. SkirtSports is the only company that specializes in fitness skirts and offers a running skirt style with built-in "spankies." All of the skirts, including the BikeGirl (cycling skirt) are made from a lightweight, premium blend of nylon-lycra, with a 100% polyester option added to the line this year.
SkirtSports Inc., based in Boulder, Colo., was created by Nicole DeBoom, who in her daily grueling workouts grew weary of the industry's standard baggy running shorts and sausage casing running tights. In 2005 the Yale graduate (blonde and bright!) designed and marketed a highly technical AND feminine fitness skirt -- with bright pink as the company's signature color. "Women, no matter what age or sport, want to feel feminine and sexy. With that comes confidence and courage to excel." DeBoom said. Her skirts are tested on the trails and roads of the Boulder-area mountain ranges.
SkirtSports has been featured in dozens of magazines and newspapers, including the New York Times, Runner's World, Women's Health, Marie Claire, USA Today, the Chicago Tribune, Inside Tri and Triathlete magazines.
