CompuTrainer Now Offers Global Course Capability
SEATTLE, WA - Cyclists anywhere in the world who wish they could ride today's great course again tomorrow now have access, through one of the world's most desirable hi-tech devices, to a brilliant solution that allows riding and training in any timeframe and in any weather conditions.
CompuTrainer ® and VeloTron ® software, the world's premier bicycle training and performance analysis systems, now embrace the popular Garmin Edge TM 305 to electronically transfer the GPS data of your favorite courses.
Owners of other GPS devices can take advantage of the new GPS Course Creator software package from RacerMate too, by using a third-party converter to create a .GPX file.
With the new GPS capability for RacerMate software, it is now possible to record any course, anywhere in the world, on a bicycle or in a motorized vehicle, and bring it indoors to ride anytime with CompuTrainer or Velotron.
This is particularly important for athletes training to race on a specific course. Since these files can be transmitted electronically once created, an athlete can get a local contact to create a course profile for them using this technology and send it via email.
This gives the athlete a major edge, allowing the training of specific physiological and psychological rhythms, thus nullifying much of the advantage held by local athletes who train regularly on the course!
Additionally, athletes in hard winter areas can record their favorite summertime workout rides and then time themselves up the same hills indoors during the snow season.
CompuTrainer and Velotron let cyclists set up an indoor cycling experience with outdoor elements such as gradient and wind.
These hi-tech and super-durable training systems accurately measure several parameters of performance including power output, pedaling efficiency, pedaling balance, and heart rate. Regular use dramatically increases muscle endurance, and it can develop superior pedaling efficiency.
Since one training session can accurately be compared to another on the RacerMate equipment, performance fluctuations throughout a periodized season can be accurately tracked.
Add all of this to the unique ability to set up personal routes on the CompuTrainer and Velotron according to location (a route found on the RacerMate Library of Courses or a favorite local route) and/or features (hilly routes, flat rides, etc.), and the result is one of the most sought-after training tools on the market. Triathletes already know this is one training tool they cannot do without. Cyclists are starting to get the message too.
"Whereas previously cyclists were limited to USA routes they could map using RacerMate's topographical software by DeLorme or courses provided in our online Course Library, now they can go anywhere in the world and record courses they want to ride again, or in the case of an athlete preparing for a race, possibly ride for the first time," says Chuck Wurster, vice president of RacerMate Inc, which manufactures the CompuTrainer. "With a GPS, no course is denied the person who wants to ride CompuTrainer!"
GPS Course Creator is required to download courses directly from the Edge 305 into the CompuTrainer. The GPS Course Creator software can be purchased online from RacerMate for $65.
