The TRIKSgirl matching performance tee comes in fruit punch or cotton candy colors. Note the little fluttery butterflies dotting the "i's" A blend of 60 percent cotton and 40 percent polyester, the super-soft tee says "mini skirt." Comes in sizes 4T (xs)-girls 12 (large). Price: $25.
SkirtSports Inc., the industry's fitness-skirt specialty company, was founded in 2005 by young entrepreneur and Ironman champion Nicole DeBoom, who had long loathed the baggy shorts and tight tights that glutted the market of women's workout apparel. Her solution: pink-based fitness skirts, designed by a female athlete, for female athletes. TRIKS clothing can be worn in marathons, triathlons, during gym workouts, etc. They can be worn from gym to grocery store, beach to barbecue. DeBoom's one-of-a kind fitness skirt collection attracted a cult following of women who wanted to look cute as they worked to stay fit.
"What we found was that lots of our customers were busy moms who wanted to feel pretty in the times they set aside for workouts. Their daughters were watching and wanting the same thing for tennis, running, playing. You wouldn't believe how often we heard, 'Mommy, where's my skirt?' We quickly realized it was time to outfit the little TRIKS girls of the world too!" DeBoom said.
In addition to the TRIKSgirl brand of apparel, SkirtSports has expanded its original TRIKS apparel line in 2006 with a running dress, a cycling skirt, black skirts in all styles, bike jerseys, technical tops, a fitness bra, socks and larger sizes for curvier customers.
