Mark Allen Headlines Canadian Triathlon Clinic

Thursday, November 9, 2006 (Ottawa, ON) - The Ottawa Triathlon Club announced today that triathlon great Mark Allen will be the facilitator for its third annual OTC Triathlon Clinic in early 2007. From January 20 through 22, the Ironman great will be working with a group of 25 local and visiting triathletes. The clinic, which includes active sessions in each the swim, bike and run, will help participants reach their potential through a better understanding of program planning, skill development and sports psychology.

Building on the success of the 2005 and 2006 events, each of which sold out quickly, organizer Geordie McConnell of the OTC is excited to introduce further improvements to the event. The new host facility for the 2007 event will be North America's only indoor 400m track and athletics complex, The Dome at Louis Riel. Since opening a year ago, this state of the art facility has quickly become the training centre of choice for many of Canada's top track and field athletes.

McConnell says that the annual clinic plays an important role in region's triathlon calendar. "As triathlon continues to grow in Canada, we need to gain knowledge and inspiration from the greats of our sport, individuals like Mark Allen. And there is no more suitable location for such an event than the country's capital city, one of the nation's triathlon hotbeds."
