MADISON, Wisc.—The Ford Ironman Collegiate Championship will take place at the 2005 Ford Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon being held on Sept. 11 in Madison, Wisc.
Ford Ironman Wisconsin has been the collegiate championship over the past three years, and 101 athletes have signed up for this year’s event in the Collegiate Division.
Athlete competing at the collegiate championship will race in one of five categories, which include: Individual Men, Individual Women, Team Men (two men per team), Team Women (two women per team) and Mixed Teams.
Competition is allocated to full-time college students only, and students must be enrolled full-time during the fall semester of 2005 to be eligible.
Awards will be given to the top three teams and top five individuals to complete the Ford Ironman Collegiate Championship.
More than 2,000 triathletes from around the world are expected to compete in the 2005 Ford Ironman Wisconsin. Athletes will be competing for 80 qualifying spots to the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, as well as a $30,000 pro- prize purse.
