Salt Lake City, UT. 8/24/05- First Endurance is proud to announce that sponsored rider Levi Leipheimer (Gerolsteiner Professional Cycling Team) won the 2005 Tour of Germany. The Deutchland Tour is a nine-day ProTour stage race that covers 1,530 kilometres, has two Hors Catégorie climbs, three Cat. 1 climbs and several other hills that make the race ideal for climbers. On his way to victory, Levi won stage 4- the highest mountain finish of the year and the overall mountains classification. Leipheimer was able to ride away from the elite climbers (like Cadel Evans, Jan Ullrich, Jorg Jaksche & Georg Totschnig) on the grueling 4th stage that many consider one of the toughest climbs in the world. Levi attributes part of his improved climbing to some key changes including his nutrition. “My weight is lower than I have ever seen it, 61kg and I’m feeling good.”
Levi started working with Robert Kunz, Sr. VP of Research & Development at First Endurance, to fine-tune his diet early this season. Since Kunz started working with Levi, he’s placed sixth in the Tour de France, third overall in the Dauphine Libere and first in the Tour of Germany. Levi has also provided valuable input and feedback to the First Endurance Research and Development group for Multi-V, the new multinutrient vitamin First Endurance is launching this September.
