Second place finishes at Ironman Arizona and Coeur d' Alene indicate Gollnick is on track

For Immediate Release: 07/24/06

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Three-time Ironman Champion Heather Gollnick has started off her 2006 season in championship form. Gollnick finished second at Ironman Arizona in April and then repeated her second place finish at Ironman Coeur D'Alene in June at the Women's Professional Championships.

"I'm really happy with the way things have been progressing so far this year", said Gollnick. "I am so hungry for another Ironman victory. Finishing behind women like Michellie Jones at Arizona and former Olympian Joanna Zieger at Coeur D' Alene, although frustrating, makes me realize that I can race with the best in the world", commented Gollnick. Gollnick has been one of the sports most consistent long course pro's finishing atop the podium at three of her last four Ironman events.

"I've been working so hard on my run over the last year. I was consistently in the 3:25 marathon range but this year I've had a tremendous break through and now I'm running in the 3:15 range - the fastest run split at IM CDA", said Gollnick. Gollnick is now focused on the Hawaii Ironman Championships in October. The remainder of her season will be focused on shorter 70.3 series races and other half ironman/Olympic distance races to allow her time to recover and build for Hawaii. "I'm feeling so confident this year with my overall performances. Finishing in front of great runners like Kate Major at Ironman Coeur D' Alene and Desiree Ficker at Ironman Arizona give me tremendous confidence as I prepare for Hawaii", said Gollnick.

Gollnick's accomplishments would not have been possible if not for her sponsors. "There is absolutely no way I would be able to do what I am doing without the support of my sponsors", said Gollnick. "I am forever grateful to all of you for believing in me and providing your unconditional support.
