USPro Tri Team Update: May report, early season races!

by Trifuel on June 4, 2009

With a load of new sponsors and a few new faces on the team, USPro Tri Professional Triathlon Team looked forward to opening up a great season!

The first races of the season can often be tough, but a great chance to try out the new equipment and get used to racing again. You also get to work on your race nutrition strategies, and get all the little dumb mistakes out of the way.

Greg Remaly and Kevin Lisska both had solid finishes at the California 70.3, as did David Silver and Chris Tremonte at the New Orleans 70.3 where both races had loaded international fields. Dereck Treadwell had a huge breakthrough for us at Powerman Alabama (2009 Elite Duathlon National Championships), finishing 2nd overall. Greg then had another solid 15th pro finish in the huge field of 56 international pro’s at Wildflower. Mike Caiazzo kicked off his season with a great race at the Florida 70.3 and was one of the top Americans. Kevin, Ryan Bates, and John Kenny raced the crazy 3-day 4-race American Triple-T in Ohio, where Kevin and Ryan won the team competition and John took 2nd in the solo division. Dave Kuendig had a good race at the Austin ITU Pan Am Cup, racing against international athletes from all over North and South America. Nick Waninger is coming back into great shape after a bad motorcycle accident this winter, placing just behind another top pro at the Terre Haute triathlon. Ryan, Mike, Kevin, and Dereck have also racked up wins so far at more regional races.

Planned team events for June include the Rev3 half ironman in CT, Eagleman 70.3 in MD, and the Philadelphia tri in PA. Feel free to stop by their booths or team vehicles at events to check out their gear and chat.
