Triathlon One O One Returns to Lake County

(Lake County, California) Triathlon One O One has announced Sunday, June 1, as the race date for the 2008 Triathlon One O One Clear Lake. The 101.06-mile event, beginning at 7:00 a.m. (PST), is comprised of a 1.86-mile (3km) swim, followed by an 80.6-mile (130km) bike and ending with an 18.6-mile (30km) run. The race is open to both professional and age group athletes. Online registration will open on August 1 at midnight (EST) at www.clearlaketri.com. In keeping with its stepped fee schedule, the registration cost for those registering before Dec. 7 is $200.

The inaugural Triathlon One O One Clear Lake debuted earlier this year on June 10 and hosted 175 athletes. Due to the success of this year’s event and the positive feedback from the triathlon community, organizers are expecting a dramatic increase in registration for 2008 and will limit the field to 1500 athletes.

“We’re excited to be going back to Clear Lake in 2008, as it is such a wonderful community and venue,” said Doug Grout, national race director of Triathlon One O One series. “We’re looking forward to building upon our success there this year, as well as enhancing the overall athlete experience.”

In addition to the 101.06-distance, the Clear Lake event will also host a 25.5-distance event on May 31 and a 50.5-distance race, which will be run in conjunction with the 101.06 race. The Triathlon 25.5 events are comprised of a .5-mile swim, followed by a 20-mile bike and a 5-mile run, while the 50.5 events are comprised of a .9-mile swim, followed by a 40.3-mile bike and a 9.3-mile (15km) run. As with the 101-06-distance events, these races will feature age group and professionals athletes in addition to relay teams.
