Orbea Unveils new Ordu

by Editor on June 15, 2007

Orbea is proud to unveil the next result of their high-design/engineering process: the new Ordu aero frameset.

Craig Alexander, current 70.3 Triathlon World Champion, will ride the new Ordu in its debut at the Minneapolis Lifetime Fitness Triathlon.

Using the same combination of high design and engineering that contributed to the creation of the Orca and Diva framesets, Orbea has unveiled the next step in aerodynamic bicycles - the new Ordu. "Our engineers and industrial designers had one goal - to make the fastest bike available" said Tony Karklins, Managing Director of Orbea-USA. "We have a brilliant group of people working on our flagship bicycles, and every new design from this group is a home run."

Unique features of the new Ordu include:

· A completely new headtube concept: Rather than struggle with the classic headtube-diameter problem, Orbea has created an entirely new shape that is faster than traditional cylindrical headtubes. This unique "bird of prey" shape combines the airfoil with a new 2-point concept for the ultimate in airflow control.

· Complementary aerodynamic frame hardware: The new Ordu is paired with a proprietary seat-binder, aerodynamic bottom bracket shell, rear dropouts and internal cable-routing. "There is no point in designing the ultimate aero-frame, if you un-do the advantages with sloppy detailing. Beginning with the redesigned Orca, Orbea has placed a heavy emphasis on details, and the new Ordu benefits from that high standard", says Karklins.

· Unique carbon shaping on every tube: every single tube and junction on the new Ordu has an individually considered shape, designed for the ultimate aero-benefit for its posItion within the frame design. "What works for the top tube is not the same as what works for the seat cluster" explains Brian McCoy of Orbea Canada, "this is not a cookie cutter bicycle".

· Size Specific Nerve design: each size of the new Ordu has a unique carbon lay-up, meaning that the ride quality of the smallest size bike is as terrific as the ride quality felt in the medium and larger sizes.

Craig Alexander, current 70.3 Triathlon World Champion has been training on the new Ordu and the frame will make its race debut with Craig at the Minneapolis Lifetime Fitness Triathlon on July 14, 2007.

Interested parties can garner more information about the new Ordu at www.orbea-usa.com on June 14, 2007 or anytime thereafter. Complete bikes and frames will be available for purchase by the end of June at Orbea dealers.
