Registration Deadline For Triathlon One O One Bradenton Approaching

BRADENTON, FL (April 16, 2007) A little more than two weeks remain until the May 4 registration deadline for Triathlon One O One Bradenton. Interested athletes still time have time to register.

The inaugural Triathlon One O One Bradenton will be held on Sunday, May 6 in Bradenton, FL. The 101.06-mile event, comprised of a 1.86mi (3km) swim, followed by an 80.6mi (130km) bike and an 18.6mi (30km) run, will feature both age group and professional athletes. The professionals will compete for a $50,000 prize purse, while age groupers will vie for division prizes and awards.

Registered athletes to date come from 18 states, including Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. Nine countries will also be represented, including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden and the United States.

The Triathlon One O One series launches on May 6 in Bradenton, Fla., with additional qualifying races in Clear Lake, CA on June 10, Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sept. 2 and culminating with the championship in The Woodlands, TX on Nov. 11.

Course Description: The 1.86-mile swim features a spectacular rectangle course in the protected Manatee River which is feed by the Gulf of Mexico allowing for great spectator viewing and fast times. Water temperatures range from 78˚ to 80˚'. Wetsuits will be allowed if water temperature is 78˚ or less. The 80.6- mile bike features a lighting quick two-lap course that loops through downtown Bradenton and Manatee County. The entire course will be on dedicated closed lanes for bike traffic only. The final 18.6-mile run is a spectator-friendly one-lap featuring a bridge crossing over the Manatee River providing participants with breathtaking views of the Manatee River and downtown Bradenton.

About the Location: Located just south of the Tampa Bay area in Manatee County, Bradenton is a fabulous place for individuals and families to explore art and historical attractions, as well as water sports, boating and the area beaches. Manatee County is also home to Florida's Gulf Islands of Anna Maria Island & Longboat Key. The area is known for warm tropical breezes, miles of powdery white sand beaches and the shimmering waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
