Kraft, Comerford Headline Women’s Pro Field for Triathlon One O One Bradenton

BRADENTON, FL – April 10, 2007 – Germany’s Nina Kraft and Great Britain’s Bella Comerford headline the international women’s pro field slated for the upcoming Triathlon One O One Bradenton being held in Bradenton, FL on May 6.

Kraft is only one of three women to break the nine-hour barrier at the Ironman distance and holds several international Ironman championship titles. Comerford is a four-time Ironman Florida champion who finished third earlier this year at Ironman South Africa.

“We’re committed to offering professional triathletes another option in long course racing,” said Shannon Kurek, executive director of the Triathlon One O One series. “Having world-class triathletes such as Nina and Bella, as well as the other women in the field, shows the interest in the Triathlon One O One brand is growing worldwide.”

Also set it to battle it out for the $50,000 prize purse are: Australia’s Julie Curwin and Marilyn Macdonald; Canada’s Sylvie Dansereau, Natasha Filliol and Lori-Lynn Leach; the Czech Republic’s Gabriela Loskotova and Tereza Macel; Denmark’s Lisbeth Kristensen; Comerford’s countrywoman Leanda Cave; as well as Stephanie Jones, Amy Simonetta, Laura Tingle and Ruth Vesler from the United States.

Prize money will be distributed as follows: 1st Place - $10,000; 2nd Place - $6,000; 3rd Place - $4,000; 4th Place - $2,000; 5th Place - $1,500; 6th Place - $1,000; and 7th Place - $500.

Triathlon fans worldwide will be able to follow the history-making series launch online via coverage from Triathlon One O One media partners Insidetri.com and Slowtwitch.com.

The Triathlon One O One series launches on May 6 in Bradenton, Fla., with additional qualifying races in Clear Lake, CA on June 10, Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sept. 2 and culminating with the championship in The Woodlands, TX on Nov. 11. The 101.06-mile events, comprised of a 1.86mi (3km) swim, followed by an 80.6mi (130km) bike and an 18.6mi (30km) run, will feature both age group and professional athletes. Each qualifying event will offer a $50,000 professional prize purse and the championship a $150,000 professional prize purse.
