Triathlon One O One Announces New Registration Fee Schedule

by Editor on March 16, 2007

Athletes Receive Incentive for Registering Early

In keeping with their “Athlete’s First” pledge, the organizers of the Triathlon One O One series announced today a new entry fee schedule for all of its events. This new schedule would eliminate single entry fee pricing in favor of a more gradual increase over time, giving athletes more time to register at lower prices.

“We’ve been in constant contact with the triathlon community and we’ve heard lots of comments regarding the entry fee prices. We discussed it and thought why not make a change in the registration process that would benefit more athletes,” said Shannon Kurek, executive director of Triathlon One O One.

Through the new plan, athletes will be able to register for up to half the price of the $300 entry fee, depending on when they register, with the fee gradually increasing throughout the registration period. For example, athletes wishing to register for the Bradenton race were able to do so for $150 (half of the total registration cost) through March 15. Athletes registering after March 15 and before April 15 will be able to do so for $250. Athletes registering after April 15 will pay the full $300. Details of the fee schedule for each event can be found on the Triathlon One O One web site on each event’s page.

All registrants will receive a Triathlon One O One-branded technical T-shirt, race visor, venue-specific poster, water bottle, entry to the welcome dinner and post-race party, as well as a custom finisher’s medal,T-shirt and beach towel.

The Triathlon One O One series launches on May 6 in Bradenton, Fla., with additional qualifying races in Clear Lake, CA on June 10, Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sept. 2 and culminating with the championship in The Woodlands, TX on Nov. 11. The 101.06-mile events, comprised of a 1.86mi (3km) swim, followed by an 80.6mi (130km) bike and an 18.6mi (30km) run, will feature both age group and professional athletes. Each qualifying event will offer a $50,000 professional prize purse and the championship a $150,000 professional prize purse.
