Talent Search is Underway at Amgen Tour of California

SEATTLE, WA. (Feb. 19, 2007) – Does your son or daughter have what it takes to be considered for the USA Cycling National Team Program? There’s an easy way to find out during the Amgen Tour of California, February 18 – 25 at the following stage finish cities: San Francisco (Sunday, Feb. 18), Santa Rosa (Monday, Feb. 19), Sacramento (Tuesday, Feb. 20), San Jose (Wednesday, Feb. 21), San Luis Obispo (Thursday, Feb. 22), Solvang (Friday, Feb. 23), Santa Clarita (Saturday, Feb. 24) and Long Beach (Feb. 25).

USA Cycling and RacerMate, Inc., have partnered to help identify the nation’s young athletes with the potential to join USA Cycling’s top tier and hopefully become a future World Champion. The Amgen Tour of California is the first public event where aspiring young male and female athletes aged 15 to 23 will have the opportunity to be tested using one of the three test protocols of the USA Cycling National Talent Search. The test consists of a 3 kilometer time trial riding RacerMate's Velotron electronic bicycle ergometer/trainer. There are a limited number of 20 minute time slots available in the RacerMate booth at the Amgen Tour of California Lifestyle Festival. Go to http://68.115.203.26/california.php to reserve a test time at any of the stage finish cites.

If you are unable to have your daughter or son tested during the Amgen Tour of California, you can go to one of several “Talent Search Centers,” throughout the United States and have them tested.
