In todays Atkins following frenzy, I am glad to say I am not an Anti-Carbist. I enjoy the fact that as an endurance athlete I get to eat all carbohydrates I want as fast as I can obtain them, knowing that my body will need them to energize the 15-mile training run I have planned for that night. I still believe that the Carbohydrate is a friend to all, not just the endurance athlete. To all the carb hating dieters out there, the weight loss equation is simple. Run. Eat the carbs you want (in moderation) and stay away from really fatty foods. I lost 60 pounds using this method.

Speaking of Carbs, has anybody found a good tasting gel that I could try? I have tried a bunch. Some I merely tolerate and some of them about made me loose my cookies. Any ideas would be great.

I gave up on the gels - can't stand the texture. I just eat bananas and drink sports drinks.

Good for you for not being a carb-hater... all things in moderation, say I...

I like Carb Boom the best because it seems the most natural and has the least taste. Its not as thick in consistency as the others.

I use cliff shots and gu's a lot because they are so avaiable to me but I do not like either very much anymore.

Power gels are the worst!

Anyone try those accel gels with the protein in them? Im really curious how those taste?

and btw, i love carbs!

I have never tried any gels or anything, I stick to bananas and powerade (I'm addicted to the stuff)... but I gotta say... LONG LIVE CARBS lol I cant believe how some people can just cut them out of their lives, but were all different so you gotta respect it

I had a 15 mile run on Saturday. I tried the Clif shot chocolate. Not too bad. Much better than the Power gels! Still a little thick. So for those who just enjoy the poweraide, gatoraide and bannana's, what do you do to eat them during your training? Its kind of hard to run with a bannana in your hand. I guess I could stash it somewhere before the run. What has worked well for you?

Pretty much I save the bananas for the bike - you can eat a banana and ride at the same time, so long as you don't squeeze it and have it fall out of the peel and hit the dirt, which will really annoy you. I think I'm gonna have to get a lunch box for my bike though, so I can keep stuff accessible and still be able to shift...
