:-( Are there any ways of preventing stomach cramps? Any suggestions welcomed.

I kept getting serious side cramps... never on training runs, but I would get them after transitioning from bike to run.

Worked on pre-race diet and limited my fluid intake for sprints.

Then I found an article on SIDE STITCH and found that my breathing played a big part in inducing these.

Just Google "side stitch" and you'll find info on how breathing, ligaments and your liver can induce the side stitch.

The right side of my stomach. It only occurs during the run.

I would first watch what you are eating before the run, food always messes with my stomach when I go out on a run, another idea is looking at the way you run, some people seem to run in a way the cramps up the muscles, i hope that helps!

I used to get these ALL the time. I found that by strengthening my abs, the cramps went away. I do sit ups and really work on strengthening my core in the gym. Also, be careful what you eat before running. The harder you are planning on running, the more conscious you should be about what you eat. You may have to experiment to see what agrees best with your stomach. Also, when you get side stitches, it helps to slow down and take some deep breaths. I like to rub and push on it a little bit and the pain usually gets better.

But again, I think strengthening your abs will help you the most.
