Got an Oly dist race coming up. Want some input on my fuel, this is Trifuel, coincidentally! Will probably use 50/50 Gatorade/Water mix in transitions and on the bike, bananas in T1 and oranges in T2, like PowerGels and Gu gels on the bike and run. But I sometimes use a mix of Pnut Butter/honey to get some energy. Is this digestable on the bike or is it too thick? I don't seem to have much trouble on my training runs. Whatcha think?

I'll usually do a almond butter and honey on bagel with breakfast or before workout rides. On the course for an Olympic I stick with GU gels and Cytomax, with a powerbar possibly midway through the bike.

I'm not sure on the peanutbutter/honey mix during the race. I think if the mix has enough carbs to keep you going and isn't thick enough to cause too much fluids to get it down, then it's probably fine. You gotta go with what works for you and it sounds like this works for you during training so should be fine during races. Just remember that if you're hitting higher zones in you race than you are during you're training, you'll need more carbs regularly to keep you going. That's why I usually stick the gels.
