Yesterday, July 17, I completed my first sprint triathlon, and did I love it! Thanks to all you ladies who gave me great "fashion" advice;" (and support) I did get a great speedo just for the event. I have my sights set on 2 more sprints and possibly an Olympic distance right here in my town in September.
But I surely need more time on the bike...! At least I can kick butt in the water.

Hey, Plantlady, congrats on completing your first tri! My frist race is this Sat. out here near Grand Rapids, MI. I grew up in Saratoga Springs. I did not know that there was a tri in SS, NY --but then again I haven't looked for one in that area since I only get back to see my folks once or twice per year. Let me know which race you are doing and maybe in 2006 (after bitten by the tri-bug this weekend), I can head back East and tri it out. Congrats again!

Hey PlantLady, did you do the Saratoga Lake Tri on 9/17? I would love to hear about it, as I am targeting that race for my first OLY distance next year --combine the race with a trip back home.

I finished my inaugural race season on 9/10 of this year with my second sprint tri and am hooked. The goal for next year 4 sprints and an OLY. Let me know how your race went.

Hi LawGuy,

Yes I did the race, however on a relay team,. I could've done the whole distance (albeit in "back of the pack" time), but had a blast on a team. I swam the mile, a bit mentally challenging, since it was a horseshoe -shaped course. Some swimmers suggested more buoys on way back. The level of athletes went from top-notch (running w/bikes) to 60 something ladies and gentlemen. Great atmosphere, great music, friendly crowd, and well-run. Loads of local athletes and others from 5 states and NYC. If you want to see times, go to score-this.com. If you'd like input from someone who did the entire race I can find a local triathlete for you. I'm sad to see the season end! Keep me posted for the 2006 tri. I have friends w/kayaks if you want to swim the lake prior to race.

PlantLady,

Congrats on the swim! Imagine, a horse shoe shaped course in Saratoga --how very clever. I would love a full race report. I was on the Capital District Tri Club website early this a.m. and did review some of the results. Some amazing times there (at least in my book). As next year's race season draws near, I'll be in touch.

I am enjoying two weeks off from doing anything (except a stroke clinic at the Y to get feedback on my swim stroke). Other than that, trying to figure out what to do when to keep in shape to start training for '06 races.

Thanks again for the response and if you can get someone to post on the race, that would be great!
