I have competed in triathlon this past year, I started a number of years ago and came back to it at the beginning of this season. I was astounded with my performance and this has spurred me on to attempt to be selected for National Squad.

My winter training cannot be going better apart from one thing - weight!!!
I am looking to lose about 3 kg for next season but I am having great difficulties.

Before it is mentioned... I know to lose weight you need to take in less calories than you expend!:)

However, this seems not to be working. I watch my diet closely and have monitored by calorie intake and expenditure - no results!!!

I have researched the topic extensively but have not found anything to help - so I am now turning to my fellow athletes!!!! PLEASE!!!

I know I can get to this weight because I have beforeI can't really cut my calories anymore as I will feel tired when training. Has anyone got any suggestions or has had the same problem?

May sound stupid, but this works for a co-worker of mine. Everytime he hits a weightloss wall, he goes to McDonald's and gets two (2) Big'n'Tasty burgers. NO fries, NO soda!!! Just the burger. He has lost 40+ pounds since December 2002.

I'm no expert, but my thoughts...

It sounds as though you have exhausted all the traditional weight loss programs and are adhering to a strict diet. Possibly you're at your ideal weight for the amount of training you are doing. Most pros end up trimming down as they peak for the big race. It's possible that you may not wish to worry about the weight now, but that it will drop as you taper into the race season and aren't needing as much intake to keep up with the energy you're currently expending with a larger training load (and dealing with the cooler weather).

Anyhow, just my opinion.
