Hi Everyone,

I need some help! I am really struggling with ITBFS in both knees. Just when one clears up the other one goes. I haven't been able to run consistently since September last year, its really getting me down. Have been seeing a physio for ages now and stretching and doing hip stability exercises like crazy and we thought we had the problem cured, i even managed a pain free run at the weekend, but then yesterday the left knee went again. I am looking for some advice as to what else I can try - are there any nutritional approaches or supplements that will help, or any strengthening or core exercises that will help. I'm at a dead end :(

That sounds serious. Have you been seeing the same physical therapist all this time? If so, id definitely get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th opinion. Obviously what you are doing now is not working. I had ITB syndrom in my knee and it eventually went away with a couple months of PT, but it sounds as if yours is either a lot more serious, or else you simply are not doing the right exercises to relieve it.

I had ITBS in my knee a few years back, and despite seeing several high profile physios & PT's it refused to go away and brought a premature end to mt track athletics career, so I share your pain and frustration! In the end it was solved by a masseur at the local gym. Just a few sessions concentrating on the ITB, quads and hams were enough to release the pain and let me ease back into running. So that may be worth a try...

Good luck, I really hope you find a solution

try yoga ... 2-3 times a week, bikram yoga is the way to go.
