I here it makes a good recovery supplement. mike101 02-23-2005, 06:37 PM Personally, I have taken whey protein for mroe than 15 years. I consume a galss after every hard workout. Do I think it helps, yes. I have no doubt it helps shorten recovery time. krbrownabq 02-23-2005, 06:49 PM Whey protein is one of the best supplemental ways to take in protein, and is convenient. It's also more expensive - for a cheaper bet, try skim milk or egg white. Beans are also good, but most folks don't really find them refreshing after a hard workout. Also for endurance athletes, it's especially important to consume a ratio of 3-1 carb to protein for recovery (making sure to get at least 10 grams of protein within the first hour (preferably two minutes, as several new studies nicely show) after exercise, and at least another 10 grams within the first three hours). Kelli Daniel 02-24-2005, 05:52 AM Thanks for the info, I`m going to give it a try this weekend! ibgenaro 02-24-2005, 09:14 AM It may be just in my head but after every workout I make my protein shake and I feel so much better throughout the day and the next day I'm fully recovered for my next workout. I bought a gaint tub of whey protein powder which has lasted for about 8 months now for only $30. I put one scoop of protein powder with low fat milk (8oz), a scoop of low fat yogurt, tsb of flaxseed oil blended together with blueberries and raspberries. This has been the only way in which I can drink it without trying to force it down. Try the different flavors, I've gotten use to the chocolate. vBulletin v3.6.0, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
