Hey guys, I'm in the middle of a recovery week and I'm straddled with a pretty bad cold, chills, aches, stuffy head. Since its so early in the season should I scrap most of the week or should I bite the bullet and get out there?

Thanks,
Chris

scrap the week. as courage the cowardly dog might say: when in doubt, don't go out!

get feeling better, come back stronger!

thanks for telling me the same thing my body is telling me. It's just that I don't usually listen to my body. I'm aware that I probably can't help my season by working thru this head cold; but I probably can hurt it if I don't recover well. I'm glad this was a light recovery week anyways. Couldn't ask for a better time to get sick!

Thanks
Chris

The old saying is "Sick in the head, go ahead... Sick in the chest, rest".
Actually heard that last night running with some friends.
I also was fighting a cold last week. Since it was just stuffy head kind of thing...
I went ahead and did my usual training up until Sunday when I just didn't feel good at all.
So other than an attempt at a 30 minute spin session on the bike trainer I took it easy.
On Monday I fought the urge to go lift weights and did nothing.
Tuesday felt much better and got in a 6 mile run. Felt strong and refreshed.
So I'd agree with TDB and say take a day or two off.
Especially if you have aches and chills and the like.

I'm glad I am not the only one with a cold; I have the flu, strep throat and laryngitis all tied up in a nice little package. I just began to get my voice back but have not been able to get out there for the last week and I am so wanting to get going!

Hang in there, Caroline. And be patient. It might have been tougher taking days off than working thru the cold. But now I'm glad I did it. I'm back and feeling better and my workouts feel fine, fresh even. Remember that tri's are long term plans and unless you're racing next week, you'll do yourself a favor by recovering fully before you start stressing your body again with big workouts.

Hope you feel better soon,
Chris
