pain in toes

I have noticed on my last few long rides (50-100 mi) that my 2 big toes get extremely painful. I am not sure if it is because of the extreme heat I am riding and maybe my feet are swelling, or if I need new shoes (they are about 1year and half old), or I am just riding longer and this was bound to happen with the distance?!

Any thoughts, ideas, remedies?

thanks in advance

Circle Swimming and Lane Jumping (it works)

I was reading the lap swim etiquette and the subject of circle swimming came up and how you can't split lanes with more than two, how to pass, if you are allowed to pass mid lap etc.

check this out, the pool that I swim at does something I haven't seen at any other pools (haven't been to that many pools though.

Weekend training

Just looking for some general thoughts. Have you guys gotten better results with doing a long bike on Sat with the long run on Sun or the other way around? I like to to a short run after the long bike and a short bike before the long run but I'm trying to decide which way to schedule the long sessions in preparation for my next race.

TdF thread (*** SPOILERS ***)

Figure we should have a spot for people watching the race to talk about it! :)

Lance looked good, until everyone else went. Contador is sharp, going to be tough to claim the #1 status from him.

In my down time I plan

So when I am not training or working or looking at Tri sites or buying things for tri I am looking ahead. Next season will be my first season doing HIM so how many should I schedule. I figure two would be good seeing as I am getting married next July so don't want to make my life any harder than it needs to be. Any thoughts?

swim training

I would consider myself a strong, but slow swimmer. I used to be fast, back when I was younger and lighter. I just completed my first HIM and my swim time was around 46 minutes. I was hoping for a sub 40 at most. I started my swim training about 1 year ago. Since that time I have seen improvements in my swim endurance, stamina, and breathing in the water.

Dizzy/nauseous after open water swim

I noticed after my last two open water practice swims I've been horribly nauseated and dizzy. And it doesn't go away after I get out of the water - I swam this morning at about 9:00, and at 3:00, I'm still feeling sick. I tend to suffer from bad motion sickness, is that what is causing this?

It starts this Saturday, so here is a thread to discuss anything and everything Tour related.

No radio ear-pieces allowed this year. How is this going to effect the race?

Who can challenge Cavendish for the Green Jersey? No McCewen or Boonen this year.

Can Astana grab 2 podium spots?

Will Cadel Evans get some help in the mountains this year?

Water Aerobics Rant

So I felt the need to vent after my wonderful experience at the pool this afternoon. I was nearly done with my swim set (only a 300 yd cool-down remaining) when it appeared that a water aerobics class was about to take over the pool (24 hr fitness for those who are wondering).

Knee Pain...again!!!

I have been running about 5 miles a day since January. About a month ago my knee started hurting so bad during a run that I had to walk the rest of the way. Went home and took some ibuprofen. Went to the Dr. Still HURTS. Someone suggest MRI. Is that really worth the cost. What should I do before shucking out the bucks?

How fast should I be in a swim?

Hi

I am wondering about the speed of swim specifically and the speed over all. I am 41 I don't reckon I am ever going to win a Iron Man. I am still working on a base to get training.
How fast should 50meters take me in the pool ? I varied between 1:28 and 1:14 paying attention to form and not sprinting, if it has to be maintained over nearly 4 km what pace do you guys have?

Hello Members:

I am looking for a good swimskin for OW events (5k-10K). I like the Blueseventy Pointzero3 and Orca RS1. I normally swim in warm water and hot sun.

Is it possible to become overheating using those swimskins ??

Do you have experience with Pointzero3 and Orca RS1, which one do yo prefer ??

Do they made of neoprene ?

Thanks very much for your advices

too many options for tires, help.

I hate tire shopping. It's not that I hate shopping for gear, in fact I find bike shopping to be overall fun. Tires... hate them. There are too many options and we've all had a bad experience with a set of tires that seem to get a flat every time you go out for a ride. That being said, are there any good, comprehensive tire reviews out there?
