Hello all, I was just wondering where and how you guys get your "nifty" looking clothing... i'm finding my local bike shops abit dry on clothing (tri specific also)... especially most revolving around brands that I do not use and such for example. Perhaps online? website?

Thanks a million in advance for any help.

ps... oh yea... most concerning top/bottom clothing for TRIs

One word for you: Ebay. I buy the majority of my tri stuff and other exercise clothing this way. They have a good selection, and if you're patient, you can save a TON of money. Just to give you some examples: I got a pair of brand new Pearl Izumi bike shorts for $25, which included the shipping, and these shorts retail at our shops around here for $60. A friend of mine got some like-new Shimano SPD shoes for $8. He didn't like the way they fit him (he has really high arches) so he gave them to me and they're perfect. You can also get Cool-Max socks by the dozens. 48 pairs for around $20. I ended up giving some away because, really, who needs 48 pairs? 24 is enough for me. :)

Most of the stuff I've gotten has been new and some has been used, but the used stuff is always clean and in excellent condition.

The trick is to find the right category. If you just type in "triathlon", you will have to wade through tons of other tri related stuff like bikes, books, etc. Sometimes that's fun, but if you can refine your search, you'll save some time. Ebay tries to make things easy for us.

Since I've been using Ebay, I pretty much won't buy anything "retail" anymore.

now that I've had some of these "nifty" clothing, ive tried them out a bunch with my workouts and such.... I'm just wondering... do u guys wash your stuff in the machine... and if you do, what do you use... i'm just abit afraid of destroying or ruining some rather expensive (per typical clothing) stuff... thks in advance all.

Machine wash, cold, line dry, no softener (unless, you've got some of the funky socks that specifically tell you to)

If all else fails...read the labels.

Don't know how the guys would feel about this...

I use lingerie bags and toss my cycling shorts, swimsuits, etc. in them. Machine wash with all the other stuff, pull 'em out and hang to dry before you stick the other stuff in the dryer. My take on this is - if my unmentionables can handle a wash cycle in one of these bags, my cycling shorts ought to be fine. So far so good. And it keeps the elastic, etc. in great shape.

*wonders to himself..... a lingerie bag... thats a pretty good idea.... then i think... wonder what the guys would think? *im in the military by the way.... lol j/k appreciate the help, i think ill try the machine wash and dry... it worked well last night, hopefully they don't get worn out from the pool work + sweatier workouts and frequent washings.

ps... i already get "sh#it" from the guys for wearing bike shorts and half tops and so forth when im riding/swimming/running... i just run faster when i hear the snickering.. i don't see them doing it.
