-I originally put this in the wrong Forum. Re-posting here:

I have a triathlon in 5 days. 10 days out I tweaked my knee trail running. Went to the dr. She couldn't find anything. X-rays showed every was okay but I couldn't walk on it.

Now I am able to walk/hike and put pressure on it but it still feels weird. I am afraid to run. Feel great biking and swimming but I'm taking it easy.

Question: Should I do the triathlon on Sunday? I just don't know what to do. I know I can do the swim and bike part. But I'm so scared to re-injure but I have been looking forward to this triathlon for 6 months now. It's a milestone for me... Help!!!

i say do it, but if it starts to hurt then just walk. I know it is wierd with everyone running but it is better than sitting on the side watching. I have to walk every tri i do, i have had 2 back surgeries so the doc said "No Running". At least you still get to compete and achieve your milestone. One race walking is better than no race at all.

I agree -- especially as a newer person to the sport (based on your given skill level) it can be beneficial. You'll still get to work both transitions, and you'll still have fun and get the energy of the event.

However, if walking is feeling odd on the day of, be prepared to drop out of the race if you need to. Although it's really hard, it's better to miss a few days and heal well than have to take a few months off after you make it worse. Just listen to your knee!
