IMC timing mats on bike course?

For anyone who has been at IMC... are there any timing mats out on the bike course? I've heard there is one at the top of Richter, roughly 42 miles/68km into it. Anywhere else? Maybe the special needs turn-around or the top of Yellow Lake?

I need to find out because last night my wife asked me, "when you're on the bike, how will I know you haven't crashed and you're not dead?" She didn't find it funny when I told her just to peak in all the ambulances that drove by to see if I was inside.

I'm hoping she can at least watch for my splits while she waits for me to get back to T2. Apparently I'm not the only one at our house who is getting nervous.

Thats sounds right.

reason?

It's because they are by far the biggest inclines and delete the temptation for uncle bob to pick you up at bottom of the hill in his pick up and drive to the top and drop you off.

On a funny note i've never done a race that i haven't fatasized about cheating like that. Hiding in the bushes for a while then jump out after an hour well rested and head into the other direction. OF COURSE i'd never do this but in the time of struggle its always entertaining.

It's a great race,,,have fun

I did IMC a few yrs ago, think mats are at the turn around of the out n back loop

Yeah, I remember a mat at the special needs pickup but not on the summits.
Actually, I'm not even sure about the special needs turnaround, it was all a blur in a haze of exhaustion and pain. (kidding) (sort of).
But I've only done this race 7 times, maybe it was different before that - this is the 30th anniversary race. :)
