Obviously being a Brit I am a little happy at the moment, what a performance by the Brownlee brothers. Anyone that thinks that the top end triathletes are failed runners, just look at the stat below.
Mo Farrah Olympic Gold 10km time: 27:30.42. Alistair Brownlee Olympic Gold Triathlon 10km section time: 29:07, he was also one second faster than Britain's second placed runner.
Hope you guys have all been enjoying the Olympics as much as we have.

... and Whitfield DNF'd
... and Whitfield DNF'd after crashing as he tried to put his feet into his clipped-in shoes. So if an Olympian can't do it, why is it the first thing every newb wants to learn how to do?
Yep that was quite a spill,
Yep that was quite a spill, to be fair didn't the guy behind hit him first?
Simon said (on Canadian TV)
Simon said (on Canadian TV) that the speed bump caused his foot to slide forward off his shoe/pedal and so he was off balance and swung into the barrier. I think he took out the rider behind him. That tells me to stay away from other people at the start, before everybody is clipped in and under control.
Congrats to the Brownlees. To be great, you have to promise big and then deliver - and they did it on a huge stage in front of God, the Queen and the British public.

Of course Whitfield knows how to do a flying mount with his shoes clipped in to his cleats, but Sooner's point is still valid. I can state with absolute certainty that there are two things that are NOT going to help a newbie break the three hour mark in the Oly for the first time:
- Race wheels
- a flying mount coming out of T-1.

+1
I agree, Derek, it's hilarious to watch - if you're not in the danger zone behind them! There are youtube vids illustrating how not to do a flying bike mount.
