Missed workouts

My first IM is coming up in 5 weeks. My plan has peak workouts this week. I missed a couple, including a long bike ride last week and am still having significant back pain (history of disc herniation) this week. I'll be having further testing this week.My question is this: when do I throw in the towel? Next week begins the taper. If I miss all of this week and jump back in next week do I still go for it? Thanks.

one week's worth of workouts certainly isn't a reason to throw in the towel. "still having significant back pain " might be a reason to call it. I don't think anyone can tell with this limited information... it's how you feel, what your dr. says, etc.

Thanks dkh. I am one of those oc people who freak out at missing a single workout. I'll be learning a lot more about how serious the problem is in the next week but will try not to sweat it.
