Newish to tri, needbike help

Hi!! Thanks for your help in advance. I have a trek 4300 mtn bike now. I can go long distance with it over 16 mph... I have my eye on a Cervelo p2, but don't want to spend over 800. I am in houston and hoping to catch someone who is tired of theirs. Is this possible? I want a bike that someone has tweaked in the righ size, 58 cm. I am patient... I am watching Craigslist but not married to the Cervelo, I am open to suggestions but do want the carbon frame and one that someone else has done the adds on.

thanks for your advice! 34 inch inseam so I heard that 58 inch is good btw.

If you are in Houston you might want to get involved with the Houston Racing Triathlon Club. Biggest club in the area so you're going to be more likely to find someone unloading a used bike.

ok! Will do, just liked them on facebook also, thanks.
Any Tribike advice?
I put an ad in Craigslist in items wanted with a bit of criteria, I'll see if I get any bites.

God Bless.

You probably won't like my answer, but if you are new to tri's and only want to spend $800 then my advice for the "best tri bike" is to get a used road bike. More versatile, easier to handle, etc.

There will be plenty of people who say "don't decide on the brand, you need to get the one that fits you best". I happen to think that there are any number of bikes that are so close that they can be adjusted fairly easily. Normally I'd agree that seeing a fitter so they can tell you a handful of brands and sizes that would fit you well. but I/m assuming that if you only want to spend $800 on a bike, then spending $150 on a fitter isn't going to be appealing.

That said, if you have your heart set on a tri bike, and want to find a good one used, then a P2 is a pretty good choice. I still have a 58in MASI road bike outfitted with aero bars that I use on my trainer in the garage. I'd part with it if you want to go that route.
