What to do in Panama City Beach after Ironman Florida

Obviously, i'm going to be doing Ironman Florida this year. I was just wondering what fun things any of you guys/gals may have found or done in Panama City Beach in the night and days after the race. My family and friends are coming out (no kids coming) so we are looking for a relaxing bar to either celebrate my finish or drown my sorrows after the race. Also, was there anything fun to do or see in the days after the race in the area?

Can't say for sure about nightlife there and things to do. It's a small beach town in Nov(the Ironman is the only game in town that weekend), so you probably can't go wrong at any bar w/patio on the run course. For breakfast the next day, find a place called "Another Broken Egg". It's a nice place that everyone will like.

There's a Blue Angels air show in Pensacola(the day before, I think). Not good for you, but may be for your crew if they're looking for something the day prior.

Good luck man!

My entire post-IM strategy there consisted of
1) Beach
2) Pina Coladas

:-)

We had the kids there, so spent the week before on the beach, and visiting stuff like the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum and some dolphin sea-world type of place. I hate to say it, but it's really not much of a bustling place that time of year.

Gulfworld!

It's a ghost town. I thought there would be something to do, but in the days that followed the race, the city shuts down around 8pm. Half the bars/restaurants are closed for the season.

50 miles West of Panama City is Destin, which is a very nice vacation place. You can get there in an hour on 98, but if you take 30A (they call it 30ahhh down here) it's a much more scenic route. The Truman Show was filmed a little town called Seaside on 30A.

I've only been to Panama City once, and that was to watch the Ironman. Most of my friends and coworkers stay somewhere between New Orleans and Destin when they are vacationing locally.

Bad time of year...Ironmom pretty much hit the main attractions. There is a Pier Park there with a mall and some restaurants and such too. I will likely be out there spectating this year as I live two hours away. There is a large contingent of local racers going so I'll be cheering and taking pictures.
