Trifuelers,
This summer I'm starting a long but steady path to racing my first ironman, Coeur d'Alene 2013. Many of you are training for 2012 so good luck! I'm interested in getting a coach for the 6-9 months leading up and am looking for recommendations. Cliff note about me: Married, kid, day job with semi-frequent/random travel. Who have you all used? In addition to race results, why did you like them?
Any info is appreciated. Have a great race season everyone!
Marky V is by far the best
Marky V is by far the best coach I've used. Click on the link at the bottom of my signature line. I've been with him since Sept. 2010 and I have vastly improved in all facets of triathlon and my technical knowledge has grown as well.
Besides the getting faster, stronger, quicker aspect of his coaching, the best thing I love about being one of his athletes is that he has a genuine interest in my personal life and molds my training around that and ensures that I have a balanced life.
You can read any number of my race reports from Nov. 2010 (Cozumel) through Rev 3 Knoxville (May 2012) to see the improvements gained. Some stats on me- married, 4 kids (all ages, no diapers though), day job and I travel 3 days a week to/from Dallas to Houston. With a schedule like mine its hard to develop a schedule that works, but we've managed to do quite well with it.
If you wanting to know more, just let me know.

This year, I have been
This year, I have been training with the Endurance Nation and their coaches, Rich and Patrick. You'll see their articles here on Trifuel as well as other places. They have a different model than 1-on-1 coaching, with a whole community of athletes to draw on for knowledge, and some kick-ass training plans that are long on maximizing your time and short on any kind of "junk miles". With hundreds of athletes at Ironman races every year, they have a ton of knowledge about Ironman execution. I'm really excited to be racing with them (and with 41 other EN athletes) at IMCdA this year. With kids, work, and everything going on, I appreciate their ability to get the results out of my available training time.
You can become a trial member at Endurance Nation so you can see what the whole thing is about. I only have good things to say about it so far. Of course, the race is still yet to come, but the training, info, advice, and support has been excellent so far. If you are interested, shoot me a PM and I'll give you a link that will save you some $$ if you sign up.
