not too much to say. my first indoor triathlon, so i didn't really know what to expect. this is one of the few races that i can do this season, since i am trying to take my daughters more so that my girlfriend can finish her health it courses.
all i needed to bring was my suit, towel, goggles and shoes, which was a nice change of pace, although i was bummed that i couldn't ride my newish bike. so the course was 500 yard swim, 10 mile bike, and 3 mile run (followed by really short outside run to get to the finish, which was at the entrance of the y, instead of the cardio room). so it was a water start, so to speak, and i finished the swim in about 10 minutes (i know, i am a slow swimmer). i was actually leading for about 1/2 of the race, but since there were only 4 other people (total 4 individuals and 1 team), it wasn't that big of a deal. fast transition, and then to the stationary bike. i finished the 10 miles in about 28 minutes, ran outside to check in for the run, and then back inside to the treadmill. this was the first race that my younger daughter (or anyone) has been there to watch, so because she was a little out of control, i had incentive to finish fast. i ended up doing the 3 miles in a little over 18 minutes (sorry, still don't have any official times), then out and to the finish line. total time, 59:45 or so.
even though i know i need more time on the bike and in the pool (just finished the 100 runs in 100 days challenge on slowtwitch, so mostly running), it was great having someone there to cheer me on, and i may have won the whole meet (only 10 entries, but still good for my ego).
