I'll be there!! It will be my first Iron distance race. The weather report looks terrible so far. I must admit, I'm pretty nervous that they will cancel the swim because of thunderstorms. I'd be devastated if that happened. Not that I'm a strong swimmer, infact, i'm probably below average. But I didnt wake up early all of those mornings to complete a 138.2. And not to mention the costs we have all paid in gym fees to swim in the pool.
I dont care about the rain. Just hoping the thunder and lightning holds off.

That's hilarious. Of course, biking/running that distance is no mean feat, even without the swim. (Talk of endurance distances reminds me of the best oval car sticker I've seen in awhile: in a satiric riposte to the "26.2" of self-congratulatory marathoners, I noticed a "2.62" affixed to a vehicle the other day.)
My wife and I are driving out to Cambridge to take on the daunting 18.55 miles of the Bugeye Sprint. I originally signed up for the full distance...then switched to the half (“Skipjack”) after realizing I wasn't ready for an IM and my wife expressed interest in the event...then switched to sprint when she and I dropped the ball on HIM training given family stuff. Excuses, excuses.
My wife and I agree that we could come in dead last, as we intend to do the race together and we're collectively bad/slow at many things. My primary goal this weekend is to check out the course in hopes of doing the full distance next year.
Have a great race guys! I thought about coming down to cheer my training schedule is chock full and I have NO free time.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Lots of rain passing through tomorrow (flash flood watch for the area through Friday evening) which could impact the swim...Be safe and have a great day!

We are going to be fine. The humidity is going to be more of an issue. 93% with a high in the mid 80's.

Good luck to both of you.
